Nav Rules in Bowditch Plus!
Bowditch Plus! includes a complete copy of the USCG version D of the Navigation Rules — US Inland and International. It is presented as a high resolution pdf file, which can be printed or viewed online.
We have also generated for this publication a custom index so it can also be searched by word or phrase. This option can be very valuable to teachers and others who wish to locate all references to specific subjects in the "official" rule book itself. Use it, for example, to find where "Waters specified by the Secretary" are defined, or to locate specific areas of the Demarcation Lines, or pin down those rules that make a distinction between underway making way and underway not making way, etc.
For those sailing in Canadian Waters, or who plan to oneday, we include a complete set of the Canadian Modifications to the International Rules. The presentation is indexed and fully searchable.
This stand-alone electronic document is a full set of the International Rules (COLREGS) with each section marked in red that has changes in Canadian Waters. Canadian navigators could use this document alone as a precise computer reference for the Navigation Rules. All appendicies and other related documents are included in its "Extras" section.
Next we look at Bowditch Plus! coverage of Chart Symbols and Abbreviations.
