This is an electronic Version of Bowditch's American Practical Navigator,
NIMA Pub. No. 9, along with its associated graphics and
illustrations. The Navigation Glossary is also included as
well as the Navigation Tables and computers for calculating
the data. All is fully searchable by word or phrase.
"Bowditch" is often called the "Bible of Navigation." It is
the primary reference for most topics in the field, along with
related subjects of weather and oceanography as they might
affect mariners at sea. Below are links to samples that will
open automatically if you have Acrobat Reader on your
computer.
Note that
in the two sample pdf pages above, one opens with navigation by a text based table of contents, whereas the second sample opens set to using page thumbnails for navigation, rather than text. This user option can be changed once the file is open.
The Bowditch text is an 800-page
document, here presented with our own electronic index that
lets you find any word or phrase in the book. In several
cases, you can find valuable content with our electonic index
that you cannot find from the printed index in the book
itself.
Next we discuss the Table Data and calculators.
